THE
POSITION
As a Chef Instructor you will be responsible for
leading and supporting the facilitation of hands-on
cooking and learning experiences for our Cooking
to Learn Cooking Classes. You will go on site to
our cooking center in Wellesley. As a Chef Instructor,
you will help gather materials, set-up and clean-up
for classes, lead small groups of children through
food preparation activities per the Cooking to Learn
curricula, and generally lead children in the cooking
and learning process. We have multiple positions
leading the following age categories: Ages 3-6;
Grades K-3; Grades 4-6.
REQUIREMENTS
Previous teaching, student teaching, and/or camp
counselor experience necessary; Love working with
kids; Understanding of children ages 3-12 attention
spans and range of abilities; Excellent ability
to communicate in CLEAR and BRIEF 1-2 step instruction
and demonstration; Go-with-the flow attitude; Value
process over product; Ability to be creative during
teachable moments; Enjoy cooking; Sense of humor;
Firm-yet-fun behavior management style (i.e. keep
the group on task but also motivated); Ability to
multi-task; Patience working with kids in afterschool
mode; Ability to work with parents; Require little
supervision from management; PUNCTUAL; Own transportation
to Boston suburbs; Willingness to uphold the company's
customer-service driven brand.
HOURS
AND COMPENSATION
Positions
begin in September 2006 and are
available one or multiple days per week through
December.
Based on experience, we offer an hourly rate between
$13-15. We provide complete hands-on training and
a Cooking to Learn guide with teaching tips/strategies
we try to live by. Casual dress code along with
